I had a N64 so my platformers were Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Bomberman Hero, Chameleon Twist, etc

Hopefully I'm not in for disappointment and regret

The first three Crash games were solid platformers, so you shouldn't be disappointed.

I know they were more linear in design than the Mario / Banjo games, but that's about it

Only Crash 1 is truly linear.

All of them have linear level design. Crash 2 and 3 lets you choose the order in which levels you want to do. It's like Mega Man in a sense.

I really like it so far. Platforming isn't as tight as it should be, though.

crash 1 is the worst. 2 and 3 have extremely tight platforming

the remaster makes it worse though

Word of advice, it's okay to take breaks when you attempt the trial for The High Road.

Getting the plat in that took me a week, which was three weeks ago. My thumb still hurt from playing that level over and over.

Maybe it's because I grew up in the 8 and 16 bit days, but I actually think these games hold up just fine

Most peoples complaints have to do with the reworked physics. They've normalized the physics across all three games for N. Sane, as well as changed Crash's hit box from a flat shape to a "pill" or rounded shape. It made Crash 1 in particular more difficult.

But yeah overall the games hold up well.

Yeah I think the only people complaining are those who have only played open platformers

A lot of them were probably N64 fanboys who never played it. It's good that this re-release has proven the games have aged really well because for years you had people claiming they didn't lol.

Like if people think Crash has aged badly I'd love to see what they think of Croc, Gex, and the countless other knockoff mascot platformers. Crash was a big name and for a good reason
