I did the same. Wasn't the greatest idea for me at the time since I didn't have any established credit. Would have helped me back then.

I've had the same car for almost 12 years that was given to me when I was 16. I so desperately want a new one.

Financed a CPO car last October and traded in my paid off car for it.

Yeah, it pains me to have a car note again, but its performance and quality make it worth it.

Yeah there is no feeling like knowing your car is yours, when my car was delivered to the house and I gave that second check it was great to know it was all mine.

Never lease or loan on a car, it is only going to cost you more money.

Paid for mine with cash and the next time I buy (probably ten years after), it'll be in cash, too. Before then, I leased a couple of times, also paying the full amount of the terms in cash (credit card for cashback and immediately paid off card).

I don't think I could ever finance a car (or any big purchase) ever again, tbqh. It's pretty much slavery. I'd rather just pay for it with cash tbqh.

I'd argue that if you make enough money that you can pay off a car in less than a few months, 0% financing on a car is probably a good idea.

So long as you don't stretch yourself to make the payments, I don't see what the big deal is. Mine's a drop in the bucket - my monthly payments are less than what I make per day. I still pay above it anyway and should pay it off in like 3 years.

What irks me are those who sign the 84 month terms while barely able to tread water on their payments.

I bought my first car (spoilers: it's a truck) for $1800 straight up. Put maybe another $500 into it and it runs beautifully for years now. It's still my only automobile and I love it.
