Philoktetes 08/08/17 8:21:23 AM #1:	Grand Theft Auto is a repugnant, immoral and downright gross series with literally no moral, spiritual, or creative upsides, made by manchildren for manchildren. I adored it when I was 14 and there was still a tongue-in-cheek naivete in the writing (They lost this with San Andreas) but with V they have gone way too far past the point of "funny" "satire" or "parody" into grossly indulgent nihilistic sadism and they can't keep getting away with saying "it's all in good fun" when their content crosses far more lines, far more gratuitously and unnecessarily than any R-rated movie. I'm not a prude or anything but I do read up on franchises I don't play (though I played a bit of Vice City way back, but that was all just free roam) and it's just not something I want my boys to play at the ages they are. That said there are plenty of mature rated games in the house that they play and I do too. It's just a matter of the context outside of just violence that is in most of the mature rated games we own, that I don't think they need to see. Fiction or not. Hey they can watch Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, etc, but I am not going to show them I Spit On Your Grave either. I guess every parent has a line that they don't want to cross when it comes to their children's entertainment. --- I think I need a drink.
