I'm going to assume it is because I just had surgery to remove my gallbladder, and I've been on quite a bit of medications, as well as anesthesia.

Yup, painkillers can cause killer constipation. I was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago, and I was constipated like I never have been before. Luckily Advil proved to be strong enough, and was able to stop the prescription painkillers.
