Batman Telltale Series (a five chapter game) is on sale on GoG right now. It looks interesting, but the reviews are so so - has anybody here played it? The forums for the game on GFAQS is dead...

I really enjoyed it as a Batman fan. It's pretty much Batman: The TV Show so if that sounds appealing go for it. It has a pretty unique interpretation of some characters and the general Batman mythology and I think the spins they do on it are really good.

The plot and story is good. Your decisions don't really change the story much so just keep that in mind.

Great worldbuilding, great story, great characters, barely a game at all.

It's not even a decent CYOA tbh. You do make some big decisions but then they end up not mattering.

That said, I really enjoyed it just for the story, characters, dialog and universe.

I loved it and I'm not a huge fan of the Telltale games. It adds more interactive options in the QTEs to keep it fresh. Doesn't have the story telling of season 1 of TWD but it has better gameplay. And the story is still pretty good. It's an interesting spin on Batman's origin and if you like Batman it's definitely worth checking out.

Perhaps. I would say a game is a series of contextually-meaningful choices and/or actions designed to entertain.

I would also argue that the choices in the game are not meaningful.

But you're right; there are definitely other ways to look at it. I guess what I meant to say is gameplay more takes the player along for the ride than allows the player to control it.
