Uh... are you under doctor supervision doing a ketosis diet? Short-term, it's very unhealthy and starves the body of essential nutrients and long-term I'm fairly sure there have been studies suggesting that it could cause brain damage.

There's no such starving of nutrients as long as you're incorporating vegetables into your diet or taking supplements. I've heard of no such studies claiming it causes brain damage. Your brain runs just fine on a <20g carb diet.

I was 340 when I started an all-meat keto diet in early July. Today I'm finally in the 2's (298 lbs) and I couldn't be happier. Gonna keep this up until the end of the year and see how far along I am before I figure out what healthier eating habits I have to get into to maintain my weight for the rest of my life. Keep it up, TC!

The same things you eat at home. If you order a dish that comes with a carb, either don't eat the carb or try to have it substituted. A keto friendly salad is also an option.

What rabbi said. Yesterday I went to Popeyes because I didn't feel like cooking. Got blackened chicken tenders which are only 2g carbs per 3 tenders. Sometimes I will go to McDonald's and order a few double cheeseburgers without the buns. They put 'em in a plastic tray and give you a fork. A KFC near me still serves grilled chicken. Going to a fancy restaurant? Order steak without any kind of potatoes, or a burger without the bun.

Stuff like that.

Do be careful with this, though. To me at least, they focus a lot on offering "keto versions" of carby foods, which just makes me want to have the carby version instead and thus an internal struggle commences, lol.

I find I have the best results just eating meat and taking vitamins. If I don't look at or think about potentially carby foods, I won't want them.

That is just me though!

EDIT - I do love r/keto and r/ketogains for inspiration, though.

Dude that was THE ABSOLUTE WORST. My weight loss even stalled at one point that 2nd week, I was so miserable. I wanted to have a cheat day so bad, but instead changed up the food I ate, didn't even care about the macros. I stuck with it and now I'm feeling so much better and the fat is basically melting off. Once you get past the keto flu, it gets much easier to handle.

Hahaha also once I finished losing my water weight, the weight loss definitely slowed down, but I'm happy knowing that it's mostly fat now being burned off.

What macro percentages are you aiming for with all meat ketogenic diet?

I just finished week 3 of Insanity today. I've definitely noticed fat loss and a leaner profile but the scale hasn't budged. Hopefully that means I've gained a bit of muscle :S

Right now my only goals are to a) stay at or under 20g carbs, and eat 1700-1900 calories a day. Other than that, I'm not counting macros for the first month or so. After that I will be calculating my macros and hitting the gym like a mofo. I want to take time to get through the keto flu, and adjust to the new lifestyle before I throw too much at myself. That's how I've failed SO many times before.

And good for you! Don't pay too much attention to the scale, like you said you've probably put on some muscle. Keep doing your thing!

That's a smart plan. It took me several months to fix my diet to whole foods plant-based vegan. Even gave up wheat and caffeine (thanks, lupus). I can't imagine transitioning while focusing on working out.

Thanks! It's hard work, for sure, but I'm already planning to repeat Insanity once I finish this cycle. It's really good. I feel like my cardiovascular system is already in the best shape of my life.

Was thinking about this, carbs do seem essential to building muscle, but right now I'm only focused on shedding fat. I think eventuallly I will up my diet to around 50 healthy carbs and have them all before going to the gym.

That's a way off though

I just eat 2 1/4 patties (70/30), two slices of monterey jack cheese on each, and 4 eggs, per day between 2 and 3 PM.

1320cal
116g fat
88g protein
4g carbs

It's been working for me so far and I have no reason to change it atm.

Not trying to be snarky, but why not just eat a well-balanced diet and then exercise regularly?

As mentioned, carbs are needed for your workout to improve muscle tone.

Maintaining your calorie intake + exercise is pretty simple and you aren't losing food groups you should be eating.

Because I have been conditioned all my life to consume carbs in massive quantities. When I eat a carby food, I gorge on that shit. Potatoes? I'll have a metric fuckton of roasted red potatoes. Pasta/rice? Jesus Christ, I'll have soooo much of it. Same with cereal and everything else. It's literally easier for me to just cut all those things out than to try and eat them in proper quantities. At least, for now. When I eat meat, eggs, dark green veggies, I only need a little to feel full and I won't gorge on that shit.

It just works for me. Eventually I'll introduce more carbs as I try to build muscle at the gym and get swole.
