Well it's 54 right now, but this is obviously an anomaly. It's normally around the 80s. Really great in the summer because I don't walk outside and start sweating instantly. I was in St. Louis for a wedding two weeks ago and it was 102 on Friday and 105 on Saturday. Combine that with a tuxedo and I was ready to walk into the gates of hell for heat relief.

Winters are rough though. Not even the snow, it's just the cold that stings most.

Not really. I mean, if you're into rides and whatnot, then yeah it's like a nice mini-theme park, but as far as the shopping is concerned, it's just like a normal mall on steroids.

It's worth visiting once, but go during a weekday during normal work hours if you can. It's a shithouse on weekends or evenings because it's always crowded. The locals here avoid it like the plague.

It's a bunch of stores repeating themselves for 3 levels, a shitty theme park, and mostly chain restaurants, and it's packed as shit.

The sports radio station is doing a good job selling the hype. Sounds like it was a good offseason, between Butler and Teague and the other guy they got without giving up too much.

Then you might enjoy it. But still, go during a weekday and work hours, otherwise you will not believe the sheer volume of people you have to work around. But it's summer, and still super far away from Christmas, so it won't as bad as it gets during the holidaze.

The state is very good about being on top of any big snow with regards to plowing and shit. But as far as work is concerned, in general, you're still expected to show up, but there's a lot of leeway with regards to when you show up. And if you're lucky, if there's snow expected in the afternoon, the boss will often tell you to head home to beat the weather to make sure everyone's safe. I remember getting sent home at 2PM one afternoon last year. That was nice.

I've only been here two years though, so I've never gotten an official "snow day" off work or anything (though there haven't really been any massive snowstorms in these two years). But I imagine there are plenty of offices that tell people to take the day off and/or work from home if the weather is shitty.

I just work from home, unless I'm meeting with a client. They usually call to reschedule, but I need to be at the office anyway. That really sucks. One of these situations happened a couple of years ago, and my commute that usually takes 25 minutes took 2.5 hours :/

So is there people still out and about during a massive snow storm to justify keeping the streets/businesses open?

Like here in Texas we're not prepared for snow, so when it does snow, everything basically shutsdown.

Seems like a real pain in the ass when you have massive amounts of snow constantly in the winter.

It's not that bad, it doesn't snow massive amounts very often. And even if it does snow like 3 inches that barely affects anything.
