Donatello's always been my favourite, but when Turtles media actually tries to develop thier characters beyond basic, flat archetypes it's usually Leo who gets the most interesting themes and conflicts to deal with.

God fucking dammit. I had this whole post I'd typed up for your topic on the movies board and then I get the 404 error that it's been deleted and I'm just like goddamnit. Considering how dead gamefaqs is, you'd think the mods wouldn't be that anal about discussing movies on a movie board even if it's not necessarily being shown in the theaters at this present time. You'd think they'd want to promote discussion.

I mean, it doesn't matter anyway, I didn't like it. It had potential but the final product was just abysmal. Can't believe we haven't gotten a damn ninja turtles since though. It's been 10 years!

Voice actor for splinter is miscast. It works for the evil Aku in the cartoon samurai jack, but definitely not for the voice of freaking Splinter, who taught them to be a ninja team.

I did think it had potential, but the story is just... weird. This was a movie released in actual theaters instead of made for tv? Turtles Forever is sooner deserving of a theater release than this was.

Also I agree with the sentiment that it would probably have made for a better video game than a movie. You've got the 13 monsters to fight, the 4 statue men of the apocalypse, a sidestory about Shredder's daughter(?) that could have made for a cool secret boss... yeah, a video game would have been much better, maybe action rpg. Also the whole April in ninja suit with a sword just looked so silly... and casey was made into a joke, can't believe that would later become captain america.


And wow I had no idea it had that poor of a rottentomatoes rating, 34%? Coupled with the low box office gross (its budget wasn't that high though...) and this movie's even sadder than I remember. Maybe they shouldn't have made a movie that seems completely displaced in continuity. Couldn't tell if it was a sequel to the cartoon, the movies, the other cartoon, or its own thing that just happened to be with the group all split up for some contrived reason (so so contrived)

Yeah... when I think about it I guess I did have a bit of a bone to pick with this movie, though it was all but forgotten before the topic.
