Okay, so my ac went out on Friday, around 7pm (two hours after they close). I called this morning and the fucking weekend maintenance extensions just don't work. I tried every extension and not a soul is there. I tried calling the agent on his personal number. Got nothing. I texted him and got nothing back. I fucking emailed them.

I've never lived somewhere that didn't hire somebody to answer the phones for after hour emergencies.

Call a repair guy and take the bill out of your rent.

Call them and threaten a lawyer. You got some rights and how fast they react depends on the area though.

If you wanna be hardcore, look up the laws yourself, see what you got to work with, and in some cases you can withhold rent

Well, I made that up.

"Medical condition" and "lawyer" are magic words.

What? I'm not the kind of guy who kicks the dirt and says, "aw shucks," when something doesn't go my way. You all saw the message I got back. It's not even about the ac anymore, it's about them telling me, "we acknowledge your problem and don't care."

Also, how could I end up in court? Nobody broke the law or violated the terms of the lease. There has been no structural (or cosmetic) damage to the house or property. I wasn't serious about not doing the yard work and the lawyer thing was a bluff.

I'm paying for a service, but they act like it's the other way around. Enough of this.

Nice contribution! Now I can say it's a respiratory issue, although I do like the line about not being required to disclose the condition.

I was about to tell you, call them gasping and being like "I can't breathe in here my asthma is acting up". If you died because of his neglect (or ended up hospitalized) he'd risk losing everything.

If you lived where I lived, AC isn't a fucking option, I can't be expected to live in a 90 degree house/apartment.

Well, I'd used this trick last summer when the same thing happened (different place). These property management people never bother to check the levels of coolant when somebody moves in. Not to mention the appliances are older than I am.

There was an issue with the thermostat all winter which would just randomly reset to 62 in the middle of the night and could not be reprogrammed. The drier takes about six or seven hours to dry clothes. We told him these things in the past and the guy blew us off. My brother told him on the phone and now he's waffling because we caught him slacking off.

Same thing that happened last summer. This is Colorado, so it gets extreme temperatures in the summer and winter.

Collect every bit of information you have against this terrible property manager and get his ass in trouble. One time my neighbor got his hot water turned off by his landlord, which resulted in him getting fined.

oh yeah I've lived there for a short while, so close to the sun that it gets hot

at least it isn't humid like the south. I mean it really is hard to breathe during the summer down here during this time of year. I'm about to go jump in a big ass swimming pool.

Daaaaaaaamn. I've got the lease agreement listing AC as a promised amenity. My previous property manager (four years ago -- I seriously cannot tell this story here) was arrested for using cocaine in front of an undercover officer. We were going to send the news article to his employers, but he'd retired...

Also, that was blatant trolling on conflict's part.

So unfair... but yeah, the humidity is terrible. Dry heat is another ballgame but I'd take it over humidity.
