I dunno what quaterion is.
But if k = ij, i^2 = i^2 j^2 j^2 = 1, and you can do that for all of them to say i^2 = 1, k^2 = 1. So j, i, and k can equal either 1 or -1 Meaning if i = 1, j = 1, and k = -1 ijk = -1 --- "Iwata was awesome" - Mr. Nintendo dinglebutt ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's kinda like complex numbers, but with 4 dimensions instead of two. To make it work, the commutative property of multiplication is given up. For octonions, another basic property is given up, etc.
