Getting that at&t dsl for phantasy star online episode 1 and 2 on the gamecube back in 2002 was by far the most amazing feeling in the world, because screw 56k and people calling to talk to my mom or older brother 24/7 knocking me off muh nets. (Playing online on the original xbox felt so much better than the ps2 and dreamcast since the xbox had the controversial decision to lock out 56k connections at the time. It was still possible to unofficially use 56k on the original box, but you had to go out of your way to do it.....and it was definitely not recommended).

Didn't actually get a wireless router until like what, 2011 or something like that, so yeah, that dongle for the DS came in handy since I used it to play mario kart DS and diddy kong racing DS online.

Definitely untrue

Around the time of the DS's release, satellite internet was just beginning to be a (somewhat) viable option for rural consumers. Until then they were likely on dial up
