.....had developed a way to eradicate one breed of mosquitoes. I think most experts thought that this method wouldn't work but there was debate about whether it was ethical or not.

If it could be done that it doesn't affect other animals then yes, but afaik bats and birds and maybe some other animals needs them for food, so it might cause serious issues on ecosystems.

Flies in their maggot stage actually serve a useful purpose in eating away dead flesh. Mosquitoes exist solely to make me itch after a bite and to spread some of the worst diseases on the planet.

butterflies have extremely short lifespans and low populations. it also takes months to make a new one where as new bees are popped out on a daily basis by a single queen.

Flies have use and aren't too dangerous. Just annoying. Mosquitoes are useless and very dangerous. Death to mosquitoes.

Why are people shitting on bees? They're some of the most important insects to have around. Wasps are another story. Their sole mission in nature is to fuck shit up, I can get behind getting eradicating of those. Mosquitoes too. Flies also serve a useful purpose with decaying organic matter and what not, so can't get behind that, annoying as they are.

While Wasps do kill a lot of those things, they also kill bees, which we could probably use more of. in addition to bees being a main staple of wasp diet, they also go after other "pest management" type of critters like spiders.

This. Often when you have a wasp-heavy season it's a reaction to higher populations of the insects they control. As much as I hate wasps, I'd hate the influx of more destructive insects and the ills that come with them even more.

Nope. There's so many fucking wasps you don't even know exist, because they don't look like the cartoon black and yellow stripes archetype. Very few of them actually prey on bees, and many feed almost exclusively on nectar, making them pollinators.

Hornets and yellow-jackets are the ones you're thinking of that suck. But they make up an incredibly small percent of their entire order. Hell even paper wasps are very non-aggressive and are great to have in your yard. Most wasps you're actively hating are hornets, which are notoriously shitty. All hornets are wasps, but not all wasps are hornets.
