sony is third person with a lot of fucking walking and drab art styles, they are also starting to have a zombie trend.

xbox is shooters and racers

but for some reason sony always gets a stamp of approval while ce always shits on microsoft

Only two of those games are open world. I wouldn't say Horizon is cinematic in the same way the Naughty Dog games are either.

one of xbox's most celebrated recent exclusives was Ori and it's most anticipated is Cuphead

I think a lot of people are still obsessed with the "cinematic experience" most of these games provide. I don't like them, but a lot do, so they sell.

It's pretty obvious that the new God of War is lifting a lot from modern Naughty Dog games.

The success of The Last of Us has really impacted the Western first party output from Sony.

Many of these games lack an identity from a visual standpoint. They all have a very similar looking graphical style and the exact same camera angle. Take out the characters in these pics and a person would have a very hard time differentiating which pic comes from which game barring maybe Horizon. You wouldn't find this problem often in games from older generations.

I won't fault the game devs. If it ain't broke then don't fix it. I just wish we would see more originality coming out from other big developers besides Nintendo. More risks should be taken. At least go with a fresh setting like Bloodborne did. Granted, God of War could do some very cool stuff with Norse mythology. If only they kept it more aligned with the original games in terms of gameplay. It looks like Sony really wants a few of their biggest titles to be influenced by The Last of Us in some way lately.

Naughty Dog makes both Last of Us and Uncharted 4. So that's fine. Horizon Zero Dawn isn't anything like those games either.

But yeah it's pretty disappointing how similar God of War and Days Gone seem to be. They both just feel pretty uninspired. But these games aren't out yet so perhaps they'll surprise me.

True. TLOU and Uncharted are made by the same dev. Horizon was also a very solid game in my opinion. Hopefully, I eat my words when God of War and Days Gone come out. The Last of Us was one of the biggest surprises of 2013 in terms of video game releases for myself personally. It would be thrilling if some of the upcoming Sony titles could recreate that same "Wow, this game is actually really good" feeling The Last of Us did.
