definitely christopher nolans magnum opus.

this movie has the nonlinear storytelling of inception done right and seriously.

three different timespans of the same event happening simultaneously and overlapping?

and how he did it so seamlessly and in such a way that the audience could follow?

astounding. this man is some sort of genius.

Question?

How do they handle the historical sour grape that was the fact the Germans just pretty much let the British escape?

It's always been a sore point of history because Dunkirk was such a staple of British honor, pride and history but the fact has always been that if Germany wanted to they could have just piled it on and crushed them. However at the time the Nazis were still hoping for a peace treaty with the UK and didn't want to spoil their chances.

So when the British were helpless and cornered the Nazis just stopped advancing and let them go.

I don't get how a Hollywood movie can deal with that so I assume in the movie the Nazis just went full force?

Hitler probably intended to ally with the British, or force them into some non aggression pact. Keep in mind this was when him and Stalin were still bros, he wasn't knee deep in shit yet. Overconfidence was one of his major weaknesses. Still, its up for debate why he let the BEF escape.

No, this didn't happen. The halt order was a tactical decision in order to regroup German forces suggested by German commanders. Besides, capturing hundred of thousands of troops would have increased chances at brokering a peace deal, don't you think?

I liked it. It pretty much did the opposite of most World War 2 movies which made it feel more sincere and honest about what war is.
