Single camera show with ambitious white female (who might be a little pent up and doesn't have a personal life much outside work)

Set in southernish vaguely old school racist place.

Typical fat black female

Young hispanic looking hot woman

kooky characters

And it is fucking hilarious.

Over the top garbage. Please don't compare it to Parks or The Office.

Also, it's already cancelled.

Every character was just SO WACKY! There wasn't a straight man in the cast. Even the lead was a buffoon.

Anne's truckload of silly disorders got out of hand very quickly. Pick one. The facial recognition one was good.

That Blake Shelton wannabe moron is simply annoying. We get it, he's dumb.

The show needs a straight man. Josh isn't it. He's still too goofy.

Chris and Ben were just Mark split into 2 people. Ben was his serious and sarcastic side and Chris is his "perfect side". Ann dumped him because she felt their relationship was too perfect and then she immediately got hung up on Chris even though he was even more perfect. It didn't make sense to me

i watched the first episode and it didn't seem very good tbh. and i don't get how the premise is supposed to last more than a season. is it always going to be about this one case involving John Lithgow? how are they gonna do that? and if it is eventually resolved, what happens to John Lithgow's character?

John Lithgow isn't returning for season 2. It's going to be a new case.

One thing that's annoying is there's a lot of bleeps in the show from censored swearing, which loses its impact in humor and just becomes annoying, especially when they're saying an entire sentence that's just bleeped and you're like, what are they even talking about anymore.

Either one well placed bleep per episode or remove the damn bleeps and just actually have the characters swear, because currently it's a bit overdone.

But it's a small gripe from an otherwise really likable show. God I wish Jon Lithgow's character is his same character on season 4 Dexter. That would be hilarious.

Anyway, ignoring user above's posts aside, I'm really glad to see nicholas d'angsto again, and leading his own show no less. I always liked him as the boy band looking love interest in Heroes, and I recently just got done watching Masters of Sex which he was in.

He's likable here too. Can't believe he's 37, I mean gutdamn. Look at him, he's gorgeous.

And how funny, I thought the hot redhead (who was also on heroes, also as a love interest) was much older than him, but she's only a year older. Still pretty hot in that older woman sorta way.

And another thing I like is that the black bald gay guy in this show is a lot more tolerable (not to mention better looking) than the horribly annoying black bald (and fat) gay guy in kimmy schmidt. He looks so familiar I just can't place him where....

I don't know why you thought one court case would last more than a season.

Ah ok it just seemed like there was no reason for you to need to get how the premise would last more than a season since that would require basing it on the supposition that they would continue to do exactly what they're doing in season 1.

But really never mind all that, the show is fun enough and I laughed a lot, it's NBC's second lineup of great shows (along with The Good Place) to followup legendary titles like 30 Rock or Parks and Rec, and I thought what I saw the past 13 episodes were great.

there is a reason though. either way they do it, it's an atypical structure for a sitcom. either stretching the premise out artificially, or basically changing the premise altogether. shows aren't usually in the habit of having an actor be a main character for a season and then dismissing him and bringing in another actor and a completely different situation, which presumably is what they will do by bringing in another case and another defendant.

You got the impression that lithgow was a main character? I saw it as more he was the guest actor for that season and then the next season they would get a different famous actor every time.

from the advertising, yes. because the advertising makes it seem that way. and also because John Lithgow is a very noteworthy actor, not someone who usually just does guest spots.

Yeah but it's not a cameo or guest spot for one episode, it's an entire season. Due to the situation and scenario presented I am immediately reminded of Dexter, specifically season 4 Dexter so like most villains he's only there for a season and then leaves.

Only this time he's victim, not villain. Well actually he was a bit of both even on Dexter...

Well usually minorities are regulated to stereotypes, but have been times in the better comedy shows when that's not the case.
