I don't care too much about playing games on ultra settings, but I also want to be able to play modern games. I don't have $3000 to spend on a set up .

If you aren't super anal about 60 fps than it'll be fine. my laptop has a 1060 and has run everything ive thrown at it so far.

Those 1060 cards are meant to be nvidia's price to performance card. They'll play most things well enough, even max some shit, but the 1070 and 1080 would probably last you longer going forward. Just keep in mind the big price differences between them. I've been looking at a 1060 myself.

as long as you dont expect to max everything at 4k then yea. 1060 will run anything you throw at it.
