Everything is either Flash or CG. I understand that both are cheaper and easier to do, but you don't get the fluidity that you get from hand-drawn animation.

Even Disney gave up on the art, after The Princess and the Frog didn't perform to their expectations.

I agree.

I look at it like this though. The best animation of all time came about in the 1930s and 1940s. Then animation became easier in the 1950s at the expense of losing some of the beauty and artistry that had come before.

You can't expect people to do what is difficult. Stop motion looks better than most CGI because you have an actual physical object in view. But CGI is way, way, way more expedient. It's just the way that it is.

I love how DC/WB still pumps out a few each year. Or are those done in Flash as well?

Flash? Like Flash animation? That's dead. Maybe you mean 2D computer animation. And the reason it doesn't look as fluid is because it doesn't have as big of a budget and usually has less skilled people doing it. That sort of computer animation is usually done on a tablet anyway which is exactly the same thing as hand drawn.
