Someone hacked the game so that it will run with all chests and NPC granted items (including rupee rewards from some thieves in caves, etc) are completely randomized. The only guaranteed drop is the basic sword from your Uncle (and even that might be randomized depending on the difficulty selected). Pendant/crystal drops are also randomized, so that the Light World dungeons may drop Crystals and the Pendants may be in the Dark World (which isn't as big a deal as it sounds since the Master Sword pedestal holds a random item as well).

Just finished my first run of the game and other than it taking forever to find the bow I had a good time. Definitely gonna play again, wouldn't mind finding someone to race if they wanted to play too sometime.

Yes, the coders did an amazing job of making sure its impossible to get soft locked. The only caveat to that is you may need knowledge of odd game mechanics (like being able to use the Boots to bash into stuff and recoil over gaps) in order to progress. That said, all locations like that are described in detail on some of the resources the game creators have up

I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND using an item tracker with this. Its easy to lose track of how many chests are in a given location, and missing even one could mean severe blockage. I was completely shut out of Misery Mire and Turtle Rock until I realized I'd missed a chest in a cave and hit had the Ether medallion in it.

I tried it after ProJared did it, but I found that it was only slightly more difficult at best because I already knew where all the item locations were so it was just a matter of hittin them in whatever order the randomized items allowed.

That's probably my own problem for being a LttP nerd tho
