Pretty blatant that they're going to make Light much more sympathetic / (emo-) "heroic" than even the anime, which already treated him far too nicely.* The fact that he doesn't even try writing in the notebook until Ryuk tells him to try is enough of a tip-off. In the anime, he goes into it w/ gusto before even meeting Ryuk, and Ryuk is surprised at how much he's already done. And that's not a spoiler, it's from the very first episode. It gives a very early indication of Light's burgeoning evil. And this movie completely removed that. Also, assuming the black guy is L, they seem to have made him far more preachy and annoying, probably a clear-cut antagonist in this iteration. End of anime/manga spoilers: ~~Making Light's death seem sad/tragic, when he's a sniveling hypocritical coward in the manga.
