The only movie where she was interesting and even kinda cool was Winter Soldier

You know, the movie that had nothing to do with her fighting aliens, gods and killer robots alongside people with actual superpowers

But yeah, her joining Iron Man's team in Civil War made no sense just like the rest of her character

We should start specifying Thompson with the Justice League becoming a thing.

It's Thanos. He needs major character development stat, or else he's just a comically evil super villain who sits on a throne and schemes, and whose actual super-villainy is only ever implied or talked about after the fact. Not only that, his implied actions are so extreme, he seems to defy his own setting's limits of reason or credulity. The comic book interpretations of his motivations are interesting, but the process of adapting them to film is going to take some work because they're also really conceptual and steeped in supplemental lore that few film audiences will care to read. Basically, he's shaping up like an even more shallow interpretation of Ronan the Accuser with even less on-screen gravitas. At least Ronan had the class to use his introductory scene to brutally murder a Xandarian prisoner of war with his Universal Weapon. It's a good moment, though the rest of that could have gone better.

I actually think Thor is the next most disappointing. He's completely flat as a character, which isn't inherently bad. It gets weird though when he's the protagonist and everyone else around him is flat, and the plot plays out with precious little surprises or new developments. I really wish someone would draw attention to the ways in which he's casually really patronizing towards non-Asgardians, and underline to the audience that he and Loki both see non-Asgardians as kind of pets.

I kind of agree. Ruffalo doesn't feel like Hulk, imo. Norton's had a better design and was more intense. It's a shame Norton is a pain to work with. The actor swap did a number on my immersion.

I'm talking strictly from a Bruce Banner perspective. I don't really even care about "The Hulk" Norton does a much better job in every way at playing the role of Bruce Banner. The Hulk is already mostly CGI with limited spoken lines.

And I think Mark does a better job at demonstrating the Jekyll to the Hulk's Hyde, while also having a sense of comedic timing that doesn't just rely on him being a emotionally manipulative ego monster.

You can say similar things about Warmachine. I'd argue Warmachine has done even less as not only are most of the scenes basically filler, he hasn't even been used for comedic effect, and doesn't show up in any Avengers movies.

His role in Iron Man 3 is fundamentally equivalent to Hawkeye's from the first Avengers movie.

Warmachine was funny af, provides a good supporring role in 2 & 3 plus drama in Civil War. Hawkeye has sole decent comesy but he's so... boring. But the big thing is that Hawkeye is like one of the main Avengers and there drom the get go but basically is on the same level of relevance as Warmachine that we're comparing them, lol. That's sad.

Edit: Actually, he was integral to Avengers 1 but it had the unfortunate problem of resucing hos characterization a ton.

I still lose my shit when War Machine makes that smug face after telling his joke at Tony's party when Thor and Cap weren't impressed at all.
