Eventually we'll all be so fat that we won't even have any soldiers who can fight in our wars. What are we going to do? Build robots to fight for us? I don't think any other nations are as fat as we are. How are we going to compete?

We'll just keep redefining obesity to make it look like there's more of a problem than there actually is until it actually encourages 150lb people to lose weight

Make a law where everyone has to go to the doctor at least once per year and if you're overweight then you have to pay a fine. The higher your bmi is, the higher the fine. The same thing applies to underweight people. Problem solved.

The goal is to make the country healthy again so it would be counterproductive to change the definition of unhealthy

1. Tell that to the people who do it.
2. When you introduce money, that always becomes the goal.

The US Armed Forces, active and reserve, currently represent roughly 0.6% of the total US population. So I'd say your real worries are a long way off yet. So long, in fact, that I reckon you will be building robot armies by then. How do you keep your competitive edge sharp? Technological innovation. It's going to matter more than raw manpower in the end.
