The root of the problem is that minimum wage jobs don't pay enough for people to afford their daily necessities. If that's the case then why not settle for taxing the rich enough for a universal basic income? Raising the minimum wage is meant to accomplish the same thing but it has flaws such as how demand for more workers would go down, causing job losses to occur. Then there's the fact that whatever you raise the minimum wage to, workers who already make that amount would suddenly be making just as much as the minimum wage workers. That's practically socialism. If you want the job creators to pay their workers enough to make a living then you can do just that by taxing them enough to pay for a universal basic income. Universal basic income and universal healthcare are both good ideas, but wanting both of those in addition to raising the minimum wage damn near makes you a communist.

define "basic" please. Enough to afford rent, 2-3 meals per day, and daily upkeep. Maybe something along the lines of 100% government subsidized homeless shelters that feed their residents. --- RIP Butters_1188 2005-2009 Prove me wrong ... Copied to Clipboard!
