that is because bronn never went to dorne in the books; he married the fat idiot noblewoman and took over her lands; he later murders someone cersei sends to murder him and is part of the greater whole of chaos that is cersei's reign as lord protector.

I think they were afraid to show a lot of the original books' portrayal of women. There were very few wise female characters.

Cat arguably brought her own house down, Cersei is literally part of Varys plot to ensure a targaryen restoration, Shae is dumb as a rock, Sansa begins to develop political acumen only five books in, Brienne rides on a road to nowhere for 200 pages, etc.

Dany and Arya are the only female characters in the book that are really presented as having any kind of acumen, and Dany goes through realistic struggles to understand how to rule and learns from every one of her advisers except Daario Naharis.

Well, they waited 6 seasons for Sansa to develop political acumen. The others, yeah, I guess they're more female empowerment than in the books.
