Why does a dystopian movie have to be "realistic?" Also to clarify, I'm not necessarily defending the show, but curious what made it suck so bad specifically? For example, the scene where the soldiers start shooting machine guns into the protesting crowd during one of the flashbacks. It's all slow motion and directed in such a way that it's like, "Yes, this is what soldiers do." It's written by someone who thinks anything militarized is scary and intent on murdering innocent people. One of the other scenes, Alexis Bidel gets circumcised or w/e. Sure, that's pretty intense. But then they zoom in on her face like, "whoa, wtf? Female genital mutilation, ah!!!" There we go, I was hoping for something more specific then "it sucks." I personally thought it was alright, i certainly didn't hate it, but I don't consider it an amazing must watch tv show either. I get that the show is going for all the government oppression stuff but I can't get into it as a plausible future.
