Even fighting the same enemies over and over and over again? Most of them are just reskins. DeS would be just under DS2. I liked it a lot more before I went for the platinum and had the pure black NPCs fuck it all up. Also doesn't help that it still has unpatched duplication glitches. A remade Demon's Souls is, like, one of my most wanted games right now. Fix the glitches and bump up the graphics a little, maybe even retool the Tendency stuff and add some content for the broken archstone.
