Current Events > I'm debating quitting the Pokemon series.

I just can't play it casually anymore. I have to get the right nature and now I'm obsessing over stats and Ivs. I just want to play through the game but my OCD and anxiety flares up if my Pokemon aren't "perfect." I need help.
Just to be clear, I don't want to quit. I love Pokemon with all my heart and it's one of my favorite video game series. But every game has become a battle against OCD and several hours of soft resetting. I'm just tired of it.

When I play old Pokemon I legit just hack all of them to be perfect.

IV's almost ruined this series for me, way to much stress and grinding. Now i just do the SP and ignore online apart from trading.

Then you should stop, especially if your problems are leaking into real life.

This. I have pretty bad OCD when it comes to Pokemon too and this just solves everything completely. Pokemon is far more enjoyable once you realize you can just edit everything after the story mode is over.

I think the best solution is finish Fire Red and Pearl and quit for a while. Don't buy Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon, wait until Gen 7 to start over. I need a break.

If you're burned out, take a break.

I fact, I don't think I've played Pokemon in months. I've been playing other games and doing other things in the meantime. And it doesn't help that as of now, I'm not hyped for Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon at all (but then again, who is? It's not like they're revealed anything about it yet).

I wouldn't say that it sucks, but it certainly was "one step forward, two steps back" in some respects.

What I've learned is just to use your favorite Pokémon, regardless of how great or terrible their base stats may be, and just get the best moveset, IVs, and nature possible for whatever purpose you want them to have.

Gen 7 is automatically best gen because it allowed you to fix your IV. Every other gen is terrible in comparison (especially 3, to increase that variance from 16^4 to 32^6; that's an increase in stat variation of over 16000 times).

Only at level 100, and it's useless for breeding. Also SM have no good way to level grind, making the thing even more worthless.

The fact we are even allowed to fix it is already an improvement. I made a very rough estimation on the Pokemon boards before, when the cheaters were claiming that "time is not an advantage" over non-cheaters.

Simply put, someone who bought Gen 3 and softresetting for a single perfect IV combination Legendary would still be resetting for it a year ago. That's crazy no matter how you think about it.
