the match started with only 3 players so 1 jason and 2 non jasons. i was deborah. i didnt expect to survive for long so i just decided to go for the repair experience and then see how long i could evade a jason chasing me

turns out a long ass time.

he found me right away and went after me i would sprint to the nearest cabin and barricade myself in while looting for supplies quickly while he broke the door down

then id sprint to the next cabin and keep this up for as long as possible

i managed to find 3 firecrackers, 1 pocket knife and a flare gun so i was able to keep this up for awhile.

eventually he did get me. the AJ player lasted 2 minutes after jason found them

i prefer playing as deborah because her 10 repair stat makes fixing the broken objectives and escaping easy

yes
but they fixed things like the roof glitch

though now people have found a new way to hide from jason for the entire match.

at least this uses things that arent glitches to pull off.
basically you drive the car into a the doorway of a 1 door cabin or the spread out at the doorway to the barn at higgins cabin.

then you climb in the window and wait for the time to run out

jason cant morph into buildings. he cant move the car out of the way, he cant climb in a window, and he cant shift through the car

so it basically makes it impossible for jason to kill you

I saw some people doing a glitch on a youtube vid where they purposely glitched on the top of a stair case and the Jason couldn't reach them

you can set it up to play with friends
or do a quick play with randoms.


the way you play will vastly change depending on if you are playing with friends or randoms

if you are playing with friends you will want to have a few people playing as vanessa and chad.
the vanessa will gather supplies while the chad will get a bat. the vanessa should also arm herself
then you bring the items to the car for the deborah to fix

chad has like an 80% chance of stunning jason when he lands a hit so a team of stunners can basically make jason incapable of stopping you from fixing the car and escaping


if you are playing random then you should be playing as AJ or deborah
since you wont be able to rely on randoms to be competent all of the time. and often they will be trolls trying to team kill

so AJ and deborah have the best chance of escaping solo they are better for random matches

i just won through being clever/hiding like a coward
i found the car keys. started the car and then picked up the 3 closest players.

when jason shifted i lost site of the screen and rammed into the fence post.

then i got out and ran because i know how this story ends
everyone tries to get back into the car and fails to escape all dying.


so rather than be a part of that i ran and hid in an outhouse and waited for nature to take its course

sure enough everyone near the car was dead in under 2 minutes because they all kept trying to get it started when jason was standing right there.

once i was sure he had left to hunt down the other players i ran to the car and started it
i was able to save 1 other player and we escaped

the match isnt over until everyone has either escaped or died
or the 20 minute timer has run out.

once you escape or die you start spectating the other characters. you can leave if you want to find the next game but you dont get much experience if you do that.

every map has a main road with 2 exits.
you cant just run through the exits the game wont let you.
you can drive through them to safety with a car.


but if the cops are called once the timer runs out the cops will spawn at one of the two exits
its random which one. once the cops have spawned you can run through that exit to safety.

calling the cops just lets you escape on foot

so the 5 ways to survive a round

- fix one of the cars and drive to safety
- fix the boat and sail to safety
- fix the phone and wait for the cops then just run to safety
- hide for the full 20 minutes
- kill jason


the last 2 are the hardest to pull off

and then my connection died just when i was about to fix the phone

i was pretty much guaranteed to survive with that set up

i had found the propeller and put it on the boat
then i found the gas
i was on my way back to the boat. i was like 20 seconds away from reaching it

when the 4 seater car speed past me and jason teleported to right where i was standing to try to catch it

that got me killed :(

and then when i was spectating i noticed they only had 2 people in the 4 seater car

I want to get this game, but don't currently have a mic/headset which is what is holding me back. It seems the type of game in which communication is necessary. Am I correct? Or do some people just not talk, or use in game like "mannerisms" to convey what they want their teammates to do?

Also I presume that only the 8 campers can talk to one another, and Jason cannot hear them or talk with them? As that would give away their plan?

I have an X1. Which system are you playing on, how important is actual communication (or how often do you see it/engage in it)?

Was hype as fuck when it was announced, but my no mic/headset keeps me from getting it. Plus I'm low on funds atm, so if I get a mic/headset (not a really expensive one, but also not a cheapass one [recs for X1?]) then I'd have to wait longer to get the game.

the game is easier with a mic but i dont have one
so i play as deborah one of the characters who has the best chance of escaping solo because of her high repair stat.

the game has proximity voice chat
so if you are talking into your mic only players near you can hear you.
jason can hear you if he is close.

you can find walkie talkies all over the map
picking one up lets you talk to other players no matter how far away they are from you.
even without a mic picking up a walkie talkie is always a smart move cause it doesnt take up an inventory slot and you can hear other people and find out what they are doing even if you cant talk back

This game looks fun but I've been hesitant to try it out due to the bugs and the fact that it's online only. I hear that they're releasing a singleplayer mode though, which sounds appealing. I might take the dive and pick it up when that releases because at least then I'll have something to do if the multiplayer bugs out.

IMO the easiest way to win is to use the boat.
jason can set traps near the objectives which will injure you and slow you down. and gives jason a notification that someone triggered a trap so he can morph right to you and kill you.

he can trap the cars and phone box easily
he really cant trap the boat at all because he cant place his traps on the docks.
so its the hardest objective for jason to defend
also it only holds 2 people so he wont defend it as much as the 4 seater car.

and its spawn points are always near the boat exit so once the boat starts it only takes like 8 seconds to make it to safety (aside from one spawn point in the higgins haven map that you have to traverse a canal first)
it also only needs 2 items to be repaired. the propeller and gasoline where as the car needs 3, the battery, keys and gasoline.

most times you are gone before jason even notices the boat is missing.

now can jason stop the boat like he can the car? the answer to that is yes and its much worse when he stops the boat
if he stops the car you can just run in 4 different directions and double back later
if he stops the boat both passangers are thrown overboard into the water
if jason grabs you in the water its an instant death. and by the time you climb back into the boat and restart it the drowning animation for the other player would have finished so jason will just knock you off the boat again and finish you off.


so IMO its a fair trade off. its the easiest way to escape but if jason does find you then its pretty much a guaranteed death.

only 2 jasons can move faster than the boat in water though so most of the other jasons will just have to teleport to the exit to try to stop you.


and ive never seen anyone kill jason outside of youtube
but i have survived for the full 20 minutes before

the thing to remember though is that the game is unbalanced on purpose
jason is overpowered and is supposed to be


so many new players complain about how if jason grabs you its over and you will die
well yeah thats the way its supposed to be
