Damn... 2 memorable characters.... wouldnt they have to replace them though?

The main team isnt THAT big afterall... heres hoping it ends up doing better with the newcomers than OG NCIS did... and that its not just "The Other Darrin" in effect.

This entire scenario is so stupid. I hope they never get hired again.

Its sad, but Hollywood still treats many Asian actors as "expendable" cast. In that context, they really are replaceable in the business. That's the tragic part...

We're also living in a decade where lead characters can also be at risk for being written out of shows due to disagreements.
Why expect the secondary cast to have better chances...?

There's no chance in hell those two will ever make what they were making on Hawaii 5-0. Every studio now knows they'll throw a fit if they don't get their way.

I liked the show well enough but never enough to catch every episode.

I don't understand the outrage. The asian characters weren't the main characters and the actors werent nearly the same draw.

Don't know why anyone thinks they deserved the same as the star.

So, if you take a job and you are a minority, and you find out your manager makes more money than you, will you declare racism and quit because you aren't making as much as the person doing a lot more work than you are, and fills a more demanding role than you?

That's exactly the scenario as it sits.

My comment was focusing more on the context of minority actors threatening to leave shows due to disagreements and how often American media productions remain unphased by it. That's a grim reality regardless of this particular story.

How my comment relates is that the two actors threatening to leave are likely going to experience the same fate. They will just get replaced and forgotten. TV show productions have teams that address these situations now and many of them aim for finding replacements that "outshine" the previous cast who left. There's already other minority actors lined up who are eager to take open spots even before the originals leave. That's American showbiz...

What shocks me the most about all this is how he had name recognition when the show began, even more so that his white co-stars, and despite that he was being paid less. He was fresh off Lost, he wasn't just walking in off the street. The only reason I even checked out the show was because Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park were on it, and both Lost and Battlestar Galactica had recently ended.

The most high profile thing Alex O'Loughlin had done was that series Moonlight that was cancelled after one season. Scott Caan is Scott Caan, but he also only had mild name recognition. No one's watching Hawaii 5-0 because they're a Scott Caan fan.

Good on DDK and Grace Park for taking a stand.
