What the woman did wasn't a wrong. As this has already been explained to you.

I don't agree that "It's okay to be disrespectful if you think someone else is a meanie." is not a wrong.

All disrespect is disrespect.

It's not okay to punch me because you think I may have punched Tom Jones or at least wanted to.

Asherlee10 posted...

Trump is disrespectful. That is followed by people who, in turn, do not offer up respect.

That's

1. An opinion.

2. A bad thing.

Don't stoop to the same level.

A guy respectfully extends his hand to you, you're disrespectful if you don't shake it.

she went for Melania while she though trump and the other dude were still talking and shaking hands, it's not like she looked right him and refused to shake his hand. she shook his right after.

Was going to suggest this. It's somewhat hard to tell but it does at least appear that she only went for Melania's hand because she saw that Trump was shaking the other guys hand already. By the time he put his hand out for her, she had already fixated on approaching/shaking Melania's hand. and didn't even look down to see his hand.

Even you said that when someone is disrespectful, they won't get respect. Trump is disrespectful. Regardless or not if he is "a meanie" as you put it. This is about respect, and he is not respectful. It isn't any more complicated than that.

In this situation he WAS being respectful.

By your token of logic it would be reasonable for a best man to shun the groom and storm off at a wedding if the groom was disrespectful 5 years ago.

I don't agree with your assertion that if you disagree with someone it's okay to disrespect them later. I think that's a bad thing and perpetuates disrespect. Regardless of what Humpy Trumpy has said in other contexts

Asherlee10 posted...

So, it's okay for YOU to be the ultimate judge of who is respectful and who isn't?

While gray areas exist I don't acccept that refusing to shake the hand of someone warmly extending it to you at a diplomatic function is a gray area. I think that's pretty clear cut

Context matters.

I completely agree and the context here was Trump was being warm, respectful and friendly at a diplomatic function.

He is continually disrespectful and it is relevant to women at this very moment.

And so critique him for it. Don't perpetuate it.

You don't get a pass because you were suddenly not a dickhead for 5 minutes.

Who said anything about "A pass" I'm saying don't be a jerk.

How did your parents tell you to handle people who disagree with you at school? Because I garantee they did not tell you to disrespect and insult them because they're meanies. They told you to be better.

I haven't made that assertion. I said that if you are not respectful, you are often not going to met with respect in return. Those were even YOUR words.

In this scenario he was respectful.

Whether or not they should expect it is one thing, but it's still a bad thing to disrespect people.

If a guy says he thinks Jews are smelly and then dances in front of a synagogue there's a chance he might get blasted in the back of the head with a baseball bat. That doesn't make it an okay thing to do. Even if you expect it to happen.

The lady was being disrespectful to someone being respectful towards her and that is a bad thing.

Well we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

Respectfully ironically.

There is a difference between being disrespectful and having no respect for someone. Trump is disrespectful. It causes people to lose respect for them. Those people don't need to go out of their way to humor him if they don't respect him. If she really didn't want to shake his hand because she doesnt respect him there is nothing wrong with that. Now if she spit in his face or made a rude comment in place of the handshake I would understand your point. There is no expectation of a hand shake.

Despite the fact that she still shook his hand second, it was still a snub. She clearly went past him when he had his arm extended.

The point is that people like Unfair don't consider Trumps comments about women disrespectful and boil it down to "different politics" or "thinking he's a meanie". And thus think that people should be cordial to him when they meet him.

Right. and by the time he started extending his arm, she had already fixated on Melania and didn't look down to see his hand extended. If she really wanted to snub him, she would not have shook his and at all, which she apparently did right afterward.

As this was already explained to you (a common trend in this topic), people aren't just walking around with clean slates. Trump is continually disrespectful to people, particularly women on a regular basis. Just because this is 1 single instance that he wasn't an asshat, doesn't mean anything.

And no, my argument is not "he is disrespectful because he's done things I don't agree with." It has nothing to do with whether I agree with his actions or not. It is VERY black and white his level of disrespect.

If I was continually disrespectful to people, I would probably be a jackass and wouldn't care what anyone else was doing. On that note, my personal experience is irrelevant.

At this point I think you are feigning ignorance.

I don't agree.

All you're doing is saying your opinion on him is objective and therefore it's okay to be a jerk to him.

I think that's wrong. And childish.

I also disagree with trump and 100 million other Americans who oppose giving women rights to their own body.

I do not believe that gives me full authority to be a sick when he is trying to be respectful to me.

Tell putting aside now childish it is for a moment how would you ever change anyone's mind like that?

If I responded to you people by going "ur all dumb bitches! " ignored you and then ran off to a group who just agreed with me. How could I possibly ever succeed in changing your mind about disrespecting people? Tell it's make me a hypocrite.

I think you are intentionally being dense.

If you do not respect other people, you will often not get respect back. Trump is disrespectful. This isn't about agreeing or disagreeing with Trump for fuck sake.

This is bogus logic though he was respectful to her.

So by your logic because "He was direspectful at somepoint IMO" it's okay for her to disrespect him, so therefore if I met her now its okay for me to disrespect her because she disrespected him.

And then if you met me it's okay to disrespect me because I disrespected her because she disrespected Trump becaise he disrespeted someone.

And then if Ted Danson met you it would be okay to disrespect you because you disrespect me because I disrespected her because she disrespected Trump becaise he disrespeted someone.

And then if Ted Danson met @legendary_zell it would be okay to etc etc.

That's not how logic works. You don't go around openly disrespecting people because you disagree with them.

That's not how good natured people treat each other. That's how "Two wrongs make a right DAD" childish eye for an eye Christians treat each other.
