The platforming was incredibly difficult in that game. Almost felt like you had to be pixel perfect at times.

I'm going to try out Warped now and compare but yeah, I seriously don't remember missing jumps this much when I played as a kid.

I started up Warped and the Nostalgia hit on this was insane, I remembered the intro and this first level like right off the bat, lol. And it looks really pretty.
Crash 1 first level I know I died like 10 times to jumps whereas I finished the first level of Crash without dying at all. Crash 1 was always harder than the other two but this collection feels different. I don't remember it being this hard as when I was younger but only problem really are the time trials

The engine makes your hitbox different so you can slip off of edges which couldn't really happen in the originals

I Platinumed Crash 3 and the hitboxes really aren't bad once you get used to the physics of it all. You just need practice more.
