It's kinda meh, though I haven't played Master Mode, admittedly.

The new armours are nice to look at, but the fact that you can't upgrade them at all makes them worthless. I'd happily run around as Tingle indefinitely, but that defense rating is abysmal, even for the early game. At least the Korok mask is functional.

The Trial of the Sword, the meat of the DLC, is... fine, I guess. I was expecting something more grueling, but it's really manageable. I'd heard there were 45 levels and I was hoping for an endurance mode type thing, which would have been fun, if frustrating. It doesn't help that they give you six ancient arrows, which makes the appearance of the game's hardest enemies basically a nonfactor.

The reward's cool, though having beaten the game and all shrines, I don't really have any use for it. And seeing as how the next DLC is likely to be set in the past, I don't know how useful it will be there either.

Tl;dr - There's a reason they only sell the DLC in a bundle.

Eh, it's fine. It's a more interesting twist on the 'Link & Zelda vs Ganon' story than most of the previous games, but the story isn't the driving force of the game, the gameplay is. There are some fantastic characters that are sorely underutilised and this is probably the most developed Princess Zelda though.

Yeah, that's kinda what I saw folks saying on GAF so I was curious to see B8 opinions as well. I think it's fair to say gameplay's always been the driving force of the two with this series, but I really like the ratio seen in most of the other 3D titles so I was bummed to hear that there isn't quite as much in BOTW. I've heard about the good characters though. That's a boon.
