So we had a pretty crazy storm yesterday and it looked like lightning either hit my apartment building or very close to it. It knocked the internet out and its been down since. I have Charter spectrum.

I was on the phone with customer service today for 3 hours before they were finally convinced the issue was not my modem/router/PC. They said they would need to send a tech but the earliest they could do that was the evening of July 8th. I definitely don't want to wait 2 weeks to get internet access so I'm going to call back tomorrow and here's what I'm thinking I'll tell them:

1. Send a tech within the next 1-2 days
2. If there are truly no techs available until July 8th, refund at least half of my bill
3. Threaten to cancel if they won't do either of those. (I am not under a contract)

Anyone been in a similar situation? What's my best course of action?

Yeah, that seems pretty unreasonable, unless your whole town has no internet.

I would say do #1, and then straight to #3. You can say something like it's effecting your business or something vague.

I work for an MSP, and sometimes you need to get a little aggressive with the ISPs. You can ask for a supervisor if the conversation isn't going anywhere.

Yeah fuck that.

I would be out thousands of dollars if I didn't have internet at home for two weeks.

Tell them you want half your bill refunded for the inconvenience, if they tell you no; sternly ask to speak to a manager.
Be sure to start the conversation cordially.. If it starts going south, try and refrain from getting angry. Since the representatives could careless about your case, if anything you want them feeling pitty for you.
