Because despite her awful childhood, she acts in a very selfish way. Though she may be sympathetic, she is still a pretty horrible person. She uses Forrest throughout the film and, if fan theories are to be believed,
You can equally dislike the choices she made and still feel sorry for the shitty life she had. To be fair, she isn't exactly unique in the latter over the course of the film. Lt. Dan, in particular, overcomes some pretty awful shit and still doesn't act like a sociopath (not to say that justifies how Jenny was treated). ... Copied to Clipboard!
