more people on welfare so why are people against those poor people instead of these companies who on top of cutting jobs or sending jobs away do their best to pay as little tax as possible with their accounting magic

Kiosk won't completely remove human staffing, but it will substantially reduce it. Think the self-service aisles in a Walmart, where one employee can service 4-8 lanes at once. They'll still be at least one human their for the drive through and during peak hours probably one to do customer service for the in-store kiosk.

Considering the web-based ordering you find at Pizza Hut or Jimmy Johns has ensured I will never call those places to order ever again because the easy of use, lack of miscommunication, and enhanced order customability, I can totally see people wanting to order from kiosks.

I like to imagine a world where I can go to Taco Bell and not have to teach the cashier how to sub beans for beef when I do my order, because I just hit the buttons myself on the kiosk.

Bank of America had to remove over 200 ATMs from their banks at one point because nobody wanted to use them, they preferred the interaction. Eventually that changed....this will follow the same pattern. There will always be some who prefer the interaction, but eventually most people get used to the idea of dealing with a machine directly.

Sheetz does it. I like it just fine and every sheetz I've ever been to is always busy.

That said, I don't necessarily prefer one over the other when it comes to kiosk or human. When I order from a kiosk I can be picky as fuck with my order and not feel like an asshole about it.

The Mcdonald's in my area has had these exact same kiosks implemented since 2015 or earlier. Barely anyone uses them. I remember one time when there was this huge line and the manager had to come out and direct people to these machines because nobody was using them lol

Maybe it's a subconscious thing or people prefer the interaction. The only way I see this working is if they remove all cashiers completely and you have no choice but to use the kiosks.

I have been to one with a Kiosk at McCormick Place in Chicago. It didn't replace the cashiers it was just another option.

I used to work at a Panera that had Kiosks, it was amazing how bad people were at using them, IDK how user friendly they were compared to say sheetz kiosk which were simple,

but it was amazing how many times customers would fuck up their own order or pay way more then they had to due to how they rang it in, plus the cashier could typically ring in 3-4 people by the time it took to use the avg person to use a kiosk

The ones I saw in Canada are pretty simple to use
You get pictures of menu items and you just click what you want and then you put in a credit card or cash to pay and it spits out a order number ticket

They have one at the Jack in the Box by my house. Its so quick to use. People seem to not use em though. I just walk up order and walk away by the time they get one order in.

There's only one McDonald's around here (about a 35min drive away) and they have 2 double sided kiosks, and 1 register.

The kiosks are very easy to use, your receipt has a number. They call you up when your food is ready, or you take a tracking coaster to your table and they bring it over.

Before their remodel there were 3 registers, but only 2 ever seemed to get used. The kiosks are meant to get your order exactly as you want it. Overall I like the idea and it doesn't eliminate any jobs. They just make things more efficient.

Those kiosks will fail. No one wants to go up to a shitty kiosk and order food. They already did this at Jack in the Box a few years ago and they pulled them out a month after they installed them.

They've been doing this for about a year in canada.

Best part is the employee whos job it is to beg you to use the machine and walks through it with you and deals with all the problems.

They mostly go unused.
