Yeah I'm a huge fan of Transformers, going back to when I was an infant. The Bayverse movies are fucking trash. It's incredible how they manage to be made exclusively for dudebros ages 15-19. Not quite fun and colorful like G1, not as serious and well written as Prime... Just this awkward mishmash of over the top sci Fi CGI destruction and sex jokes.

I'm so grateful Bay ended up not directing the TMNT movies. They're not Citizen Kane but they at least retain the charm and spirit of Ninja Turtles as a franchise. At least one of my lifelong favorite pop culture icons were spared.

As someone who never got into Transformers as a kid, they're pretty good action flicks.

I go to see big robots beat each other up, and that's exactly what I get.

One thing I really respected about the 87 movie was that it actually killed off a major character and stuck with it... of course this had the side effect of traumatizing a generation of latch key kids that had come to rely on him as a father figure after their parents' divorce, but still...
