The conservative publication "The American Conservative" reviewed the play at the time, explaining in no uncertain terms that this Caesar was clearly intended to be Obama while praising the production as "riveting."

spoiler alert for centuries old historical events, but Caesar's assassins were eventually all executed or forced to kill themselves and they failed to prevent Julius from restoring the position of Emperor which the goal of the assassination, and Augustus ended up taking over for Julius.

1) the "protestor" is a member of Rebel Media, a right wing news organization who set up a donation fund for her legal defense four hours BEFORE the play started.

2) Shakespeare's Julius Caesar does not promote the death of a leader whom you disagree with you, it is a denouncement of the idea.

3) The same play was done when Obama was President. No protest from either side. Some conservatives even praised it.

Carry on.

Did not even realise it was someone from Rebel Media. They're the same people who started taking donations after the Quebec mosque shooting to find out who really shot Muslims because they refused to believe it could be anything other than another Muslim.

Yeah, I don't live anywhere near New York and I would have heard just about as much about this production as the Obama/Bush one, except someone had to get up during a play and make it all about them.
