Current Events > What was it like to start Power Rangers during a series other than MMPR?

I'm watching Power Rangers Turbo after the first cast left, and just kind letting it go in the background, don't really care about the characters.

MMPR was my shit growing up so I really grew to love the characters that carried on into the later series (up to Turbo). I'm planning on watching as far as I can take into Turbo/Space, etc..

Just wondering how people who started in a later series feel about Power Rangers. I feel like MMPR was the height of it's popularity.

im currently watching the entire franchise
im up to lost galaxy


if you feel like you wanna quit just make sure you watch in space, time force and RPM

those are the must watch seasons that are all a bit higher quality than the rest of the franchise
lost galaxy has it moments. though

the ones people tend to consider the worst of power rangers are turbo, mega force, and operation overdrive

you should check out linkaras videos a history of power rangers
he does in depth analysis of each season of the show and they are really interesting to watch

fun fact, while the girls are usually pink or yellow, throughout the franchise there has been 2 female blue rangers and 3 female white rangers

there are a few more in the super sentai series that never got adapted into power rangers but not many

if they adapt the newest sentai series which honestly seems weird and i think they may just skip it, well it would be the first time in power rangers history that a girl was the green ranger

Kyuuranger is too anime with some of their suits like the pink ranger and purple ranger and Zyuohger is kinda childish with the giant animal symbols on their chests

Why didn't her lips ever sync up with what she was saying? It's like her part alone was dubbed in with subtitles.

Wife put this show on the other night on Netflix, and started with episode 1 season 1. It was surreal. I don't remember it being so, um.. cheap?

That was always the point. Barbara Goodson provided the voice. For Season 1 it was simply adding an English dubbed voice to a Japanese character. When Rita returned and they made her younger, now played by American actress Carla Perez they retained the dub over.

Super Sentai is much darker than power rangers from some series. Jetman spoilers Black Ranger gets mugged after the final fight in human form, stabbed, then showed up to red and pinks wedding, and died on a bench

older super sentai was much darker than power rangers
they kind of started to tone it down after the 90s

hell in jetman even little kids died so long as they were just in a montage of the monster attacks


but sentai has never really topped how dark RPMs overall plot is


you see usually power rangers try to save the world from bad guys
RPM takes place in an alternate universe where the bad guys have already won
the evil venjix had already wiped out 90% of humanity and enslaved 9%
the lucky 1% that managed to make it to the last safe haven, the dome city of corinth are all thats really left of man kind.

that series even has on screen death which has happened in power rangers before but not as frequently as this season

Only series I ever saw was the original when it first launched. I remember being so pumped as a kid to watch it.

It holds a special place with me (sob story incoming) because me and my dad were polar opposites, but growing up this was literally the only show he would watch with me every time a new episode aired, he enjoyed it as much as I did for some reason. He's since passed, but it's something I hold onto.

That's a great memory to have. I'm sorry that he's not around anymore. My brother and I grew up watching it (he's 5 years old than me) but we grew up very close, and this is one of the things we share. So I definitely can identify with the bonding part of it. If he were to pass, it would be hard to watch PR without thinking of him.
