TBH I don't mind QTEs. I rather enjoy them actually. I just want to point out the hippocrits that selective use this to bash certain games and give free passes to other games.

Well when people make comments such as "All QTES are bad!" it kinda makes your point moot.

And I disagree with them that all QTEs are bad and can actually articulate why I think that and the benefit they can offer video games. Just because the discussion is centered on opinions doesn't mean you can't be persuasive.

You can't be persuasive to people who objectively find bias confirmations on certain mechanics as a negative thing. In short, the people who hated AAA games for QTEs didn't actually hate QTEs. They hated the game for little to no good reasons so they used QTEs as a reason to rationalization. We're pointing out two different things here.

You're literally assuming that the same people who didn't like QTEs in RE6 wouldn't have a problem with QTEs in Spiderman because you really, really want to stick it to people who don't like RE6.

RE6 was just one of an example. I'm sorry I didn't make that clear. There was unfair QTE complaints for other games too like God of War and exceptions were made for games like KH2.

QTEs and context moves both can be great. When they're done right, they keep you on your toes and form a greater bond between the player and character than simply watching the player do whatever in a cutscene.

Metal Gear Rising did them beautifully.

But they're not so great if it's clear the developer had no idea what purpose they serve and just did it to immitte RE4.

Which actually RE4 is another great example. Very appropriate for a survival horror game (though RE4 barely counts as such), especially one that focuses on hsmeplay features like barricading doors and such, which again a survival horror game should.
