Gamers of a certain age remember Pong with all the fondness of their first kiss. And maybe more.

Now Atari, the storied brand associated with that arcade classic and countless others, could have a new game console. A teaser video all of 21 seconds long appeared at ataribox.com yesterday. Music plays, the camera sweeps over plastic and wood grain, and the Atari logo lights up.

The video's title? "First look: A brand new Atari product. Years in the making."

That's all we know. At this point it's unclear whether the product teased is an official Atari product, or some sort of unofficial third-party emulator like the Analogue NT Mini.

Atari did not did not immediately return request for comment. If Atari (or a licensee) does announce anything official, next week's video games confab E3 is the perfect place. CNET will be there.

I for one would most certainly buy an Atari mini.

Probably just gonna be some new NES Mini type box.
Does Atari even have the money to develop and manufacture a AAA console anymore? What are they even worth now?

All its gonna be is a crappy rip off of the NES classic, and it'll probably sell like ass since damn near every mall in the world has at least one little merchant cart that has those "1000 games built into a usb joystick" things that have atari games on them or nes or whatever.

As much as I've enjoyed reviews of old Atari games, I've never actually had the pleasure of playing any of them. There are so many options for a good Atari mini:

- Berserk
- Wizard of Wor
- Adventure
- Pitfall
- Pitfall 2: The Lost Catacombs
- Kangaroo
- Thin Ice
- Ms. Pac-Man
- Centipede
- Millipede

I'd love to see some of the Imagic games like Atlantis, Dragon Fire, or Cosmic Ark as well. Not all of the NES mini games were in-house games, nor were all of the games I've just mentioned, so hopefully Atari would be able to get some third party stuff.

I hope it's just some mini-console like that NES with pre-loaded games on it, otherwise they're just going to embarrass themselves.

I know it's a long shot, but I'd like to see Haunted House and/or Frankenstein's Monster included. That might be asking for too much though. Might as well hope for Spider-Man or Superman.

No doubt that's exactly what it is. Even if Atari wanted to make a new console like the PS4/Xbone, they simply don't have the funds to do it/support it. I mean hell, I'm surprised they're still in business at all!

I see Space Invaders, Centipede, Pitfall, Kaboom, Frogger, and Millipede. I'm not sure what the game with the rainbow on the cover is. I gotta say, it seems a waste to have Kaboom without the paddle controller. I get that it's one of the most popular games, but it wasn't designed for a joystick.

I guess an NES Mini-type deal was right on the money.

Dammit... AtGames makes shitty products.
