*it's the first and only text they have from them on their phone with no previous text history with them even though it's someone they are supposed to be quite close to*

lmao I get why shows and movies do this so that there is less distraction for the audience to read the message but it honestly breaks my immersion :/

They probably just have the phone automatically delete messages after whatever time.
