What's it about?

its basically a fantasy story with magic in it that is also a heist story
kaz the protagonist has to put together a team of people to break into the most secure place on earth

its called 6 of crows because it has 6 focus characters.
it has a sequel called crooked kingdom which picks up right where the first book left off

it has some good action scenes. also it follows the unspoken plan guarantee of heist films
ever plan we know the details of will fail but it all comes together with smaller details that the audience isnt shown is what gets the plans to work. the narrative switches frequently between different points of view

so some chapters are told through kaz's perspective while other times we follow nina
its how even the reader doesnt know every detail of the plans.


the main characters are


kaz - a young thief who is also crippled and walks with a limp but has earned a reputation for himself of being absolutely ruthless. he is the guy with the master plans who is always one step ahead of everyone else. he is the main character and actually kind of a dick.

inej - the female lead. she was an acrobat. but one day she was kidnapped by slavers and sold to a brothel where she spent a year before kaz bought her contract and put her to work for him. not as a prostitute but as a spy. she has a talent for going unnoticed which makes her perfect for gathering information and finding out secrets for kaz to use for blackmail. her acrobat training lets her scale any building with relative ease.

jesper - a college drop out who spends his time gambling. he loves gambling but has no talent for it so he is in a lot of debt. he is a really good sharp shooter and honestly my favorite character in the books. he is also bisexual

wylan - the youngest character and most naive. there isnt much i can say about him without spoiling a major plot point
he doesnt get any point of view chapters in the first book but gets a lot in the second where he also has a much larger role. he is jesper's main love interest

nina - a woman born with special powers that lets her control bodies to an extent. slow someones breathing to make them pass out. stop someones heart to kill them. she is brought on as kind of the groups muscle

mathias - a former witch hunter. they hunt down and kill people like nina. he was brought into the crew because he knows the ins and outs of the place kaz wants to break into

Iv'e finally seen The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Breakfast Club, and The Goonies.

steph was kind of a pointless character though
feels like she was just there so andy wouldnt be the only girl on the adventure.

its not really stephs fault though. her big scene in the movie was one of the scenes that got cut :(

she gets attacked by a giant octopus and IIRC mouth saves her.

even though the scene was cut there is a line mentioning the scene towards the end of the movie
