I think it's set in the Spider-man universe in the MCU but it won't have anything to do with the MCU because those people aren't involved in the Venom movie. Or something.

I dunno. I doubt Sony cares. They're just desperate to set up a cinematic universe of their own. They'll likely try to also launch a Sinister Six movie of their own that will be more tied to Venom.

I don't think Tom Hardy is taking on the role if the movie was gonna be total dogs***. Actors typically pick and choose their roles and read the script beforehand. He's an A list actor. And I doubt he'd want to tarnish his career.

I think he'd live if the movie turned out to be trash. He'd be getting a big pay day lol.
