I've been a lifelong fan of his music (Black Hole Sun was my first music video and Audioslave was a BIG part of my high school music experience). I've also been going through a lot of shit the past 8 months or so with treating my depression and anxiety. Now they're saying lorazepam (ativan) had a role in it and I was prescribed that shit as part of my treatment but I couldn't will myself to take it because I was terrified of the side effects.
I'm trying so hard to get myself right and it's like there's no real way to do that. The cure can be worse than the disease. Now someone I looked up to and greatly enjoyed might have succumbed to this very same shit I'm dealing with. I'm mourning his death and feel bad for his family and all the other fans but on top of all that it's fucking hard to be hopeful for myself, I tell you what. --- Stop doing that. ... they give lorezapam to like everyone that seeks help for anxiety. it's not some behind the scenes suicide drug and i hope people don't start treating it like that all of a sudden.
I suffer psychotic depressions with vicious suicidal thoughts, and also happen to take lorazepam. The pill doesn't seem to affect my thoughts in a positive or negative way, and I tend to misdose myself properly too. Iunno. --- PSN: StabbathUS | Steam: Back__Stabbath | XBL: MrStabbath ... Doesn't this usually only apply to people who are already severely depressed? Same as most drugs. I mean even antidepressants can make you suicidal. That's not really unique to lorazepam. Typically on your way up in recovery you go through a little phase where you're depressed, but you can actually muster up the motivation to go ahead with the act of killing yourself instead of simply wallowing. I've been through it, seen many people go through it. It's not like a pill is gonna completely rewire your brain and program you to kill yourself. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I've honestly never have seen the appeal of black hole sun. Good voice, good performance, good musicians.
But the song while depressing doesn't hit the bottom, the lyics are impersonal, the chorus is overdone and predictable. It's not happy its not sad, its just annoying on some level. I think it's the eq of the guitar that's so off setting, accompanied by the drudgery of the chorus and the monotany of the verses, which shares the same slow slugging. If songs were colors it would be like a bland shit stain smear, with the colors related to green set to a hue without spectacular brocoli or grass green, but more of a dying yellow brownish leaf green. I've tried to enjoy it, but overall as much as I have I just think it's a bad song. --- ~Reward your curiosity~ ... Copied to Clipboard!

This is probably oversimplifying but benzos in large enough doses turn you F***s Given meter to zero. And since anxiety is basically excessive worrying, it's naturally prescribed in that context despite the addiction risk.
But the thing is in someone also with depression, especially when you start abusing it benzos can definitely take a sad thought and make you run all the way with it with no restraint or respect for the consequences. I'm not saying that's what happened to Chris Cornell because obviously I have no clue but from personal experience that's how I see it. --- PSN: doomtrain69 Now Playing: Ace Combat Infinity, Fallout 2 RP, FFVIII, Silent Hunter III ... "Chris Cornell stated in a 2014 interview with Entertainment Weekly that the title came from something he heard on the news - he thought the anchor said "black hole sun," but he really was saying something else. Cornell started thinking about the phrase and decided to write a song around it, as he felt it was a thought-provoking title"
My thought was, the Sun is the name the closest star to Earth. A black hole isn't the sun, because the sun is a star.
