But most guys have no pitch. Girls just have a softer voice that's easier to listen to. Though I guess it depends on the song type. I was thinking more pop/lullabies since that's probably what everyday people sing the most, like with their kids and stuff.

In my time as a choir consultant/piano player for schools and colleges, I've met more abhorrent female singers to men singers. Literally a 5-1 ratio.

I don't think this is the case. You get an occasional prodigy like Janis Joplin or Aretha Franklin or more recently Amy Winehouse, but generally less than men. Most major female singers like Katy Perry or Taylor Swift aren't really great singers, they just have a nice voice. That's what a lot of it comes down to. Having a nice voice doesn't make you a good singer.

Of course, there are relevant societal factors at play regarding exposure, but that's way less of an issue these days.
