The plot is that Eggman has turned Earth into a post apocalyptic mess. Sonic must use the power of the Chaos Emeralds to restore order to Earth.

Sonic, Eggman and Metal Sonic are the only characters to appear in this game.

No voice acting.

Sonic is the only playable character. You can also turn into Super Sonic once you collect all Chaos Emeralds.

9 action stages. 1 post-apocalyptic act and 1 peacetime act.

9 bosses.

7 Special Stages. Special Stages are like Generations 3DS Special Stages.

Gameplay is just a polished up version of Sonic Adventure's gameplay (no camera issues, no glitches, no faulty collision detection, no crappy controls, etc).

BOOM! Simple and to the point; no tacky gimmicks and BS. Game would have been awesome.

The game was literally just called Sonic The Hedgehog. Not Sonic Adventure. Not Sonic Heroes. Not Sonic And His Stupid Friends. Just Sonic The Hedgehog. Named after the first Sonic game.

You know who was the only playable character in the first Sonic game? Just Sonic. When you see a game called Sonic The Hedgehog, you'd expect to just be playing as Sonic. No need for Sonic's dumb friends.

Sonic Adventure. 6 playable characters.
Sonic Adventure 2. 6 playable characters.
Sonic Heroes. 12 playable characters.

Gamers were fed up with having to play as so many characters. Sonic 2006 needed to go back to the basics and focus on just Sonic.

Sonic 2006 was a game that was promised to bring Sonic back to its roots. To go back to the basics. The game was marketed as something of a reboot to the franchise. They even named it simply Sonic The Hedgehog.

The final game didn't deliver what it promised at all; instead of going back to the basics, we just got a shitty imitation of Sonic Adventure. My idea is meant to give the same "back to basics" approach it had when it was first announced.

You could have put any Sonic game in the topic title.

No, because most Sonic games aren't as terrible as Sonic 2006.
