spoilers for all of logan

basically every male character makes really stupid obvious mistakes that bring ruin to themselves and those around them while every female character does basically everything correctly and only suffers because of their male companions. it's most obvious near the end of the film, when logan's femininity literally destroys his uncontrollable masculinity to save the day

i mean im willing to discuss it if anyone wants to offer any kind of analysis that contradicts what i took away from the film, but it seems like most people just bounced off at the surface level "*snickt* claws into skull bub" stuff

I really liked it. They should have retired the movie franchise after it. It would have been a perfect end to the X-Men series, but you know they aren't gonna do that.

They should've taken a ~5 year break from making X-Men movies and then relaunched it with new actors and a fresh take.

the theme of the movie was time, not "muh feminism"

I don't know how this escapes people in the social justice debate, but X character being X gender does not equate to advocacy of an ideology. Mad Max is probably the only commonly pointed to movie that's actually feminist, but it doesn't reduce the quality of the movie by shoving it down the viewer's throat or make men out to be evil, so who cares?

It's the same thing with Logan. Most of the characters in the movie are male. There's, what, two female characters with a decent bit of screentime? The nurse and the kid? The nurse is barely in the movie and I'm not going to expect the mute child protagonist to make a ton of decisions that leads to her downfall. The rest of the kids she's with are in the same boat.

Logan saves an entire generation of mutants by sacrificing himself, basically, and the fact that the men "undo" themselves with their actions is a trait applied to all genders of characters in most stories. Did the farmer dad make a stupid and obvious mistake? No, he was a good guy that ran into an extremely unlikely situation that got him and his family killed. This isn't a commentary on men, this is meant to be an element of tragedy to a Western-esque somber story with a lot of death and violence.

Your logic isn't any different from Anita Sarkeesian's. It's looking for implications that only exist if you assume the writers were constant thinking about gender during the writing. This is very rarely the case, and if they did,
they certainly didn't consistently apply that logic to the movie.

I didn't like how they portrayed amputees as ruthless killers with no moral, and the whole feminist thing too.

yes, the film is about generations, but thats not the only thing (literally militarized cops murdering "illegals" while constantly calling themselves the good guys) and the feminst slant is clearly there.there's a reason that X-24 is a villian, he's the literal embodiment of toxic masculinity gone awry. its not an accident that the female clone representing the best part of logan is the one who finishes him off. logan literally gets to live on through her.

also, the farmer does make an obvious and stupid mistake. he refuses to abandon his failing farm despite obvious escalating pressure that leads to violence in the very film. the men can't let go of the past while the women are the future. Xavier has the best intentions, but his existence is dangerous to humanity as a whole, and because he convinces Logan not to move on it leads to the death of that family.

im not saying the movie is bad, but i just didnt like the feminist slant

Fuck, Link is trolling so badly. X-23 is pretty much unkillable and also trained unlike a Mary Sue like episode 7's Rae. Practically every other female character is unceremoniously killed off.
