I mean if you're trying to build your own gaming laptop I think you'll run into problems with cooling. I have no idea how to fix that problem, and haven't ever used a gaming laptop to be able to say how it's fixed.

You should future proof by getting the Acer Predator 21, SLI GTX 1080s will at least make it relevant until 2018.

Dude a 1080 will last at least 5 years. Probably 10 if you don't mind having stuff on a lower setting later on.

If you're getting a prefab laptop I'm not sure why you need to ask. Just go with one of the more expensive ones.

You can't build your own laptop, not yet at least.
They sell gaming laptops with desktop graphics cards now.

Anyways TC have you considered maybe getting a Razer Blade laptop and just buying the external GPU dock? It's not like any laptop with a 1080 will really be truly portable anyway.

I really want something that will run new games on high for fiveish years. Sorry didn't see your post. I'm pretty set on an Alienware. I love my current one. And my dad gets discounts on Dell products.

Bro you'd get a better box for half the price if you went with a desktop. How much is a mobile gaming platform worth to you exactly?

Buy the current Razer Blade.

Otherwise, buy a desktop.

1070 - very good performance for the price, probably best bang for buck

1080ti - nothing else really in this performance range, solid card

1080 normal - complete shit, why pay hundreds extra for no real boost over the 1070?

Lol while I can afford it I'm not about to drop 9 grand on a gaming setup. Anyway according to the benchmarks I've seen the 1080 performs a decent amount better than the 1070 and should last me longer.

Personally I feel like the difference between the 1070 and 1080 is mostly talking points for more money, but eh.
