I don't know if you've read into this case much, but the way the FBI conducts this kind of operation is shady as fuck. They're literally complicit in running pedo websites, and never seem to catch the worst offenders, instead going for the low hanging fruit of newbs who don't know how to be private on the internet. There's a lot to question about this concerning entrapment and internet privacy and ethics in policing, it's not simply a black and white issue of whether you want pedos caught or not.

This one is a huge win, it's true. But it's important to note that the FBI has been running pedo sites for years to make this happen, and they've even made the pedo sites better as a result. Faster, better servers, more users, etc.

It makes my skin crawl to think about the FBI deliberately hosting CP, although I don't know another way they could do it.

Wow at this whole story. This kingpin was only caught because he slipped up and revealed the up IP address. They literally weren't able to do anything up until that point. And once he was caught, the FBI continued to run the site for weeks, so they could get more IP addresses.

I mean, great for catching pedos, but is doing the same thing that you're trying to stop, the right way to do it?
