What did Red/Green do different to deserve the induction? I'm not trolling, I legit don't know. I did play Red/Blue.

Halo was bigger than Goldeneye. Without it, honestly, I don't even think the Xbox line would've continued

FPS games still thrived on PC for quite a few years after Halo. I'd say it was the development cost for shooters skyrocketing and controllers being stuck with dual sticks for aiming that really killed off the classic style of FPS for the most part. If you make an FPS game it needs to be as mainstream as possible to make up for the budget these days.

DK's success continues to define Nintendo even up to present day. DKC is the better game but wasn't as historically significant. Without DK, the entire games industry today would be very different, no understatement.

they did, but there hasn't been a truly great (competitive) FPS on the PC since 1999 imo

Halo was probably chosen for being the first major online console FPS, and also for pushing online play on consoles in general.

How is that the fault of successful console FPS games?

Halo CE didn't actually have online. Halo 2 started it.

And being the Mario of Xbox.

That's kind of a big deal. Halo is incredibly iconic.

Besides SFII, which basically defined the fighting game genre going forward, each of those games basically revolutionized the console they were on.

Lmao, dorkiest thing I've read all day, and I browsed the Persona boards. FPS games are more popular and the tournaments are bigger and more involved than ever before.

If the absolute, sheer, unquantifiable level of skill involved is the only thing that matters? Why do you even play FPS games? Why not play fighting games you scrub? Why even play video games? Physical sports are the real test of skill! I've heard baseball is pretty rough.
