I did a rewatch of the series in the past week.

And man, the last one is actually a good movie.

But it took me out of it when an old 60 year old Rocky not only survived the fight, but matched up with the current champion of the world.

Why couldn't they book him to take the L? That would've been more captivating. And less jarring.

Just airing my thoughts. Good movie though.

lol at Rocky not dying in all his fights. The beatings he took in all his movie fights, especially 4, should have killed him

Good point. But I'll attritube that to him being a young and healthy man.

But hey, gotta make him look strong. Book him as an underdog babyface who takes a beating only to come back and win. Vince, Hogan and Cena would be proud.

He was originally supposed to die at the end of Rock V, but Stallone thought that would be like killing Superman.

His opponents went easy on him because he was 60 and didn't take him seriously.

Mason Dixon ended up breaking his hand and had to fight with a broken hand. And won anyway.

They should have modified the premise so that...

Mason's hand was injured going into the fight. His hand is hurt. He should take time off, but he's the big celebrity boxer who needs to stay in the limelight. Enter the ringer: a 50+ Rocky Balboa. Mason plans to take it easy on Rock, carry him through what amounts to a celebrity boxing match, and win on points. But things change when Rocky decides he wants to win and Mason reinjures his hand in the third round.

Not only would it be more logical, but it'd also be a callback to the first film where Rocky was the replacement opponent for a challenger with an injured hand. This time, the champ's hand is hurt and he needs an easy opponent.

Have you seen Creed?

I have.

And a large part of me wants to see Adonis battle Drago in a street fight.

Hell the beatings he and Apollo both took in the first film should have been enough to end their careers. There is no way in hell that they would have been allowed to continue that match with the shape they were in by the last two rounds.

Rocky especially. He basically just stands there in every fight with his guard completely down and gets the shot beat out of him nonstop. The only time he actually used his head was the second fight against Clubber Lang.

It was the 1970s.

Joe Frazier's eyes were nearly swollen shut by the end of his third fight with Muhammad Ali. On Ali's end, he told the interviewer he felt like he was gonna have a heart attack as he dropped to his chair from exhaustion.
